The testimony of the great “Strabone” show that the homeland of the olive is the entourage of Marseille, so near to our Italian Riviera. In fact many people consider our coast as a natural extension of the French Riviera (Côte d'Azur) because there are many similarities.

Taggiasca olive is native from Taggia, a city in the province of Imperia. It was cultivated in our region, for the first time, by the Benedictine monks of “San Colombano”. They proposed the rationalization of olive growing in this area, bringing an economic and culinary success.

The Italian Riviera is the natural habitat for the cultivation of this tree because the climate is mild and the temperature excursion is very low
